  • Withdrawal

This form is for Graduate, Doctoral, and Professional Students
  • WITHDRAWING MAY RESULT IN A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON YOUR FINANCIAL AID!
PLEASE READ THE CONSEQUENCES OF WITHDRAWING.

Definition: A withdrawal is canceling enrollment within a particular semester. A drop is defined as canceling registration for a course while maintaining enrollment in at least one course. Dropping all courses constitutes a withdrawal.

Withdrawing affects your financial aid for the current and future semesters and your academic progress, which could result in your dismissal from the university.

CAUTION!! The registrar will process your withdrawal request as soon as it is received. Withdrawal cannot easily be reversed!

Consequences: A withdrawal affects a student’s bill and any financial aid the student may have received. Students may or may not be eligible for a refund or a reduction of charges based on the withdrawal date. The refund schedule defines the amount based on the withdrawal date. A separate Return of Title IV calculation must be processed on any financial aid the student has received, which may result in the student having a balance with the university after withdrawing.

    • A student’s withdrawal from the university will be considered to have occurred the day the student submits this withdrawal form to the Office of Graduate Studies (for graduate, doctorate, and professional students).
    • If you attend class in any semester and then withdraw or earn zero credit after aid has been disbursed, you may be required to return any funds received, including funds credited to pay tuition and fees.
    • Financial aid must be used for educational expenses while enrolled at UIW. Federal regulations require the Financial Aid Office to calculate the amount of support you “earned” for the number of days you attended. Any “unearned” aid for when you did not participate in classes or were not enrolled must be repaid.
    • If you withdraw before the start of the semester or never attend any classes, 100% of the aid disbursed to you must be repaid. If repayment is owed, you will be billed by the Business Office. You may not register and are not eligible for further aid until reimbursement is made in full. We may also report you to a collection agency until we receive top funds and your balance is cleared.

Exit interviews may be required to complete the withdrawal process. If you received a Perkins loan, complete the exit interview at https://www.uasconnect.com. If you received the Stafford or Graduate PLUS loans, complete the exit interview at https://www.mappingyourfuture.org/OSLC (choose Stafford Exit or Stafford and Grad PLUS Combined Exit).

  • Note: Withdrawal is a significant decision. Please get in touch with the Military and Veteran Center at veterans@uiwtx.edu / (210) 832-5651 to see if you will be affected.

The Center will be automatically notified when the program director approves your request.
